Heads up, Activists!
Representative Alma Allen’s legislation – HB 916 -- to end corporal punishment in Texas schools comes up for vote by the Education Committee tomorrow, Tues., 3/22!
Last week, Marc Ecko testified in front of this committee in support of this legislation.
As we understand it, there are currently four committee members who are opposed – we need to change their minds NOW!
Just like you did in the last two weeks with New Mexico, we need YOU to reach out to Texas’ Education Committee members with phone calls, faxes, e-mails – everything – let’s make some major noise to flip this state NOW!
You know the drill: Go to the Activate page and pull up the names, click on mode of contact, and copy and paste our message below in the “add a custom message here” box, or create one of your own.
Please sign HB 916 to end corporal punishment in Texas’ schools. Your state LEADS THE NATION in paddling students…last count educators hit 49,197 kids - that’s 98,394 butt cheeks!
Key people to reach – these four in particular, they are the Reps. who are against:
- Rep. Scott Hochberg
- Rep. Jimmie Aycock
- Rep. Harold Dutton
- Rep. Randy Weber
Others to tap:
- Rep. Rob Eissler
- Rep. Jimmie Aycock
- Rep. Harold Dutton
- Rep. Mark Shelton
Go for it!!!
